homebuyers

Just curious, for those who have purchased a home, how long after the offer was accepted were you able to move in?

We are making an offer today! It's our first home, it feels very surreal.

Re: homebuyers

  • I think ours was pretty fast...maybe a couple of weeks?
  • We did a 30 day close, and on the 30th day we got the keys and it was ours.
  • First, CONGRATS on making an offer!!  Yay!

Our realtor made us a cute calendar with all of our "important dates" listed on it... From when we made the offer, to when we got the keys, was about 3 1/2 weeks.  That was 3 years ago though, now with all of the financing problems going on, it could easily take 5-6 weeks.

  • Well, we just signed the offer. We're shooting for a 30 day closing. We should hear back tomorrow about whether or not they accept the offer.

  • And I should add, I'm about to jump out of my skin I'm so excited. This is going to be a nerve racking 24 hours.

  • Also, even if they don't accept your first offer, it's VERY common to counter offer back and forth a few times, on price, move in date, repairs, etc.  So don't stress it if that happens.  Also, there are a LOT of great houses out there, so if this one doesn't happen, you will still find the perfect house eventually!!

  • Very exciting, let us know when it's accepted.  I'll be crossing my fingers for you.  Then pictures! Big Smile
  • The countered today and we found it to be very reasonable, so we accepted their counter this evening. We close January 12.

  • How exciting! Congrats!!! We had a 45 day close and even though all the paperwork was done and we had lots of extra time, the lender still managed to drag it out until the last day.
  • After the offer was accepted, we closed in 12 days (December 2007). It was super fast, but we worked with a great team that wanted to give us keys before we flew to Arizona for the holidays. Congrats! Where in the area is your place?

  • It's in Canby, which is where we currently live. Jared works in Canby, I work in Oregon City and just applied for a new job in Wilsonville, so it's a good location for us and we really like it.
