Raystown Lake

Has anyone ever camped there?  Any recommendations for places to rent cabins that are pet friendly?  Thanks ladies!

Re: Raystown Lake

  • We went "camping" there a few winters ago - I would hardly call it camping because we were in a cabin w/ a kitchen, heat, bathrooms, televisions etc...  It was really nice.  I don't remember the cabins being pet friendly but I could be wrong.  And it wouldn't be hard to sneak a pet in!

What I remember the most is my dad cranking the heat to what it felt like a billion degrees.  We didn't have to pay extra for it so it was taking full advantage of the heat and the wood stove.  It was pretty funny...and hot especially because none of us had packed lighter clothes...because it was February and supposed to be in the teens that weekend :)

Sorry I don't have more specific information but it was a nice get away for the weekend.

  • I love Raystown Lake.  I went there many times with my family growing up . . they are some of my fondest memories as a kid.

I don't know if you're open to renting a campsite or not but we did all our camping in a site at Seven Points Camps.  Its ran by the US Army Corps of Engineers.  They may have cabin locations as well but I'm unsure.

They do allow pets at this location.  There is also Raystown Lake Resort (not a far drive down the road - or down the Lake if you have a boat) that has a water park.  http://www.raystownresort.com/wildriver.php

I really miss camping here and hope to maybe rent a pontoon boat this summer with family.  Its a great family atmosphere and was always very clean.
