JOBS...soo frustrated!

Where are the jobs? Is anyone else super frustrated? I know you are, but sometimes does it feel like it's only you going through economic HELL? What have you been doing/applying for? Who believes in going to the actual jobsite and turning in resumes or is that desperate? TIA!

Re: JOBS...soo frustrated!

  • Ok...just asking what everyone has been doing as far as applying for jobs in this economic downturn....thought tons of people could offer advice....
  • I give a crap fl4! My husband was unemployed for 6 mns and it sucks! Lowes offered him a job yesterday and it was the best news we could have possibly gotten. The only advise I have is to just tough it out! It's not fun, but it could be worse. Good luck to you!
  • I give a crap!

Don't worry hang in there. Just don't give up!!! :-)
Just go through the phone book and get fax numbers and fax your resume everywhere! I've heard great results from those that have tried it.

  • My husband and I were just commenting on how the Sunday career section in the Orlando Sentinel is one piece of paper now, when it used to be at least 3 pieces thick. I feel for you! Keep at it and you'll find a job! :)
    Hawaii
  • It's such an ugly market- I hate that it's so bad out there for so many. I wish I could be more help- but, I'll send good thoughts your way.
  • I know exactly what you're going through - my husband lost his job about a month ago. It's strange because he's saying how other people he's met who are laid off are "happy" because they can go on vacations and relax now....how can being unemployed (not by choice) be relaxing?? I just don't understand that...DH has been searching all over for a job. Good luck to you!

  • Oh, also - hopefully there will be more job action after the holidays. Companies seem to be winding down right now...

They're probably trying to stay positive, so as not to be too gloomy at the holidays (especially when talking to friends). My DH still has a job, but his hours were cut in half and things might get worse soon. DH and I have been very casual about the whole thing, joking and laughing about it a lot, especially with our close friends. People probably think we're totally weird, but sometimes laughing things off is the only way to get through them, you know?

Hang in there everyone! As my mom always says, this too shall pass.

  • I completely understand. I have been turned down for 2 jobs in the last 3 months because I was overqualified. It is pretty discouraging.

I interviewed for a job back in October I knew I was the underdog for because they were looking for someone with more work comp experience. So, I wasn't surprised when I didn't hear back from them. Today, I got a call the office manager wants me to call in for a phone conference. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that will pan out into something.

All I can say is good luck! It certainly is hard out there.

Those ppl talking about vacation and relaxing probably got paid a sweet severance

  • Maybe, but still - you'd think they'd see it as an opportunity to make even more money! It would be awesome to get severance while making salary at a new job - double income!

  • Thanks for the kind words! I will try Lowes, retail, anything! I have applied with UPS, MAcys, and OfficeTeam (nothing back yet-hopefully after the holidays!)

     Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

  • I  just heard on the radio that the Veterans Association is hiring for all sorts of positions medical and non medical. Try there. :-) HTH!
