Mom Gift Help, please
I asked my mom what she wanted for Christmas this year and she said rather than gifts she wants to "experience stuff". So I'm thinking a wine or cooking class locally for both of us to attend, a fun mother/daughter day. But I wanted to run the "experience stuff" by you all to see if you had any unique suggestions for the Portland area. Or even something not in Portland like a day trip kind of thing. Thanks ladies!

I really like your ideas for a wine or cooking class. You could also do a winery tour and tasting together, there's a ton of awesome vineyards and wineries around the area.
If she's likes the theater you could see a show together, or a concert. A few years ago I bought my mom tickets to Oklahoma!, we had a nice dinner at Morton's before and went together, it was a great time.
A spa day together would be nice, too. How often do moms treat themselves to that kind of thing?
If you decide to go the cooking class route, Sur La Table is good option. I believe one of the stores around here offer them. We took one back in VA and loved it.
What about a trip to Crater Lake of the Oregon Gardens or something like that?
The Moot Hood Railway has dinner train and brunch trains as well as other excursion train rides. Not sure if your mom is interested. I have never done this, but I know a friend who bought tickets for her parents and they loved it.
