Adam Walsh case solved after 27 years...

Also on AOL...

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (Dec. 16) ? A serial killer who died more than a decade ago is the person who decapitated the 6-year-old son of "America's Most Wanted" host John Walsh in 1981, police in Florida said Tuesday. The announcement brought to a close a case that has vexed the Walsh family for more than two decades, launched the television show about the nation's most notorious criminals and inspired changes in how authorities search for missing children.
"Who could take a 6-year-old and murder and decapitate him? Who?" an emotional John Walsh said at Tuesday's news conference. "We needed to know. We needed to know. And today we know. The not knowing has been a torture, but that journey's over."

Re: Adam Walsh case solved after 27 years...

  • Such a sad story.  I am happy that they finally found out who killed that poor little boy....and that he can't ever hurt anyone again!!!

  • I have not been followin this story... But if the man is dead how do they now know that he murdered the boy?
  • They didn't give many details...but John Walsh has said it was him to begin with over some evidence found in his home.  The police said there was evidence or something that pointed only to him...he had confessed twice before but then took it back both times.
  • So glad it is finally over for him...I know this can bring closure to the family.
  • I'm glad that they're getting the closure they've needed in the past 27 years.  I can't imagine having something like that happen to my child and spending 3 decades not knowing anything.  It's such a tragic story.
    Siggy coming soon....
  • I read that yesterday. I mean how sad is that. It too 27 years to solve. Glad they have some closure now.

I read somewhere that the man's niece said he confessed on his deathbed. Don't know if that's true or not.

  • So sad...but at least now they have closure.

there was an article on msn about this yesterday..it said that the niece told authorities that he did confess. i don't know why it took her so long to tell people though.

I'm glad that John Walsh and his family can officially know that this guy did it.

  • I cannot even imagine how those parents have suffered, and what poor little Adam must have gone through. It's one of the saddest stories ever.
