Screw the itinerary
I booked myself a spa package on that Saturday for 3.5 hours. I am such a rebel DIL.

Good for you! I totally understand. My mom doesn't actually send out an itinerary (I think I'd flip), but she does tend to overbook us with visits to other family and cooking and baking and cleaning to have said family over. I don't think she gets that often, by the time I make it to Christmas, I am utterly exhausted . I'm using vacation days to go see them. Traipsing all over for visits and cooking for hours isn't exactly what we have in mind!
