we've officially gone insane. camping out at the rose parade:

have any of you done this in recent years?

the teen has never been, and because we can't think of anything else to do for NYE this year, we've decided to pack up and find a spot on colorado to spend the night with, oh, about a million other people. ?i haven't done this since high school!

does anyone have any tips or cool ideas for parking, what to bring, stuff to kill time, etc.??

    COO COO COO!!!

    Confused   j/k

I've never done this,  but let us know how it goes!

  • I haven't been since I was like 7 - I just remember being really really really cold and not having a bathroom close by.

  • I never camed out because my aunt lived close to the end of the route, so we'd always show up at the tail end of the parade.

It's gonna be cold!  Be careful!  Have fun!

  • Take lots of mashmellows (the large kind), silly string and corn tortillas.  This is what people do to pass the time...definitely take loads of blankets, a thermos (or two) of hot chocolate, warm wool socks, etc.

I've seen people take those cool portable backyard fireplaces that are enclosed along with them even...

  • I did this last year with the ex. His parents own an RV and there is a Ford dealership on Colorado that rents spots for the night. You place your chairs on the street on nobody will move/thouch them and in the morning you can move them down closer on the street. It was super fun and everyone there was really nice.
  • we went 2 years ago and showed up 15 min before the parade and found a row of empy seats.  The city puts out seats.  Plastic ones.  People act like they own them and they do not.

Some lady had tons of her crap on about 6 chairs, but a couple to the left of them asked if we needed seats.   She made the lady move her stuff.  She was grumpy, but did it.

We got front row seats!   Score!!

I guess I'm saying you do not have to camp out, if you want to gamble.
