Snow Tire Chains?

Where do you buy them at? I want to plan a day trip up to Big Bear with the fam but we are not snow people :P I have no idea where to get tire chains.

Re: Snow Tire Chains?

  • I know Pep Boys has them.
  • We got our at Sears. They were like $40. Make sure you get chains not cables. We once got cables and they broke. We found out the hard way that AAA will not tow you unless you have chains (when it's snowing). We were stuck until we could go and get chains the next day. It sucked!

  • Auto part stores and such...Sears is a good place too.  Ditto about the chains and not cables.
  • Some walmarts carry them to. I'd recommend calling first to make sure they have your tire size instock, so you are not driving around everywhere, and ask them to hold them for you. With the snow right now, there are probably lots of people buying them.
