Need help with a Christmas present

Okay me and DH set limits this year.  Well our limit for our siblings is $30 each.  My DH's little brother is a 21 year old college student and we are at a lost at what to get him as he is one of those if he wants something he goes out and buys it.  So we have usually just given him gift cards.

Now add into the mix he has a 20 year old girlfriend we are going to buy something for since they are pretty serious.  We said $20 for her.  She is a girly girl and I could find something probably pretty easily for her but honestly I am running out of time and I don't have a lot of time to get to creative right now.

So my question is this.  Would it be okay to give them a combined gift...pooling the limits and spending $50?  They rent movies all the time so I thought about making them a movie basket with a gift card to Block Buster or Movie Gallery.  What could I put in this basket?  I need ya'll's creativeness because I am really blanking right now.  Thanks!

  • Popcorn...cokes...boxes of movie candy...maybe a blanket if there's room...it would have to be a pretty big basket...I have actually seen red and white popcorn bowls some places...maybe World Market?
  • ditto Heather's post..popcorn, cokes, candy and the gift card...I bet you could go down to the local theater and buy or get them to give you one of those big things they put popcorn in...pad the bottom of it with yellow tissue paper so it looks like popcorn, tuck some in and around the gifts... and you don't have to fill up as much...tie it up with cellophane and curly ribbon in colors that work with the colors on the popcorn thingy.... don't you love my technical terms...popcorn thingy...LOL
  • I think that's a great idea!  You can even buy the butter topping at the grocery store for the popcorn.  We've bought it before...it tastes just like the theatre stuff.

  • I've done this before for children. It's super cute. At walmart they have the old fashioned popcorn red and white tubs. I got those and a basket. I put 2 kid movies in them and some sour candy and some hot choc mixes. The girls I did it for loved it! It's a really cute idea! I know I saw those popcorn things at walmart. I think Target has them too. Good Luck!
