really nervous, regarding jordyn...

i dont know if any of you remember that last week i had posted about giving jordyn meds.  i didnt mean over the counter meds i really meant if i took her to the dr would they give her meds?  i had taken her when she was younger and the dr basically said to just watch her and let her stick it out...

well by last week she had been sick AGAIN, i ended up taking her in, they gave her a shot for her cough, and some anti biotics and even some albuterol.

that was the easy part.  the scary part was when they where checking her and the dr was checking her heart beat, i could tell something was wrong, she kept listening, and listening, she'd flip her to the right and to the left, she turned to the nurse and requested Jordyn's chart.  She asked who her birth dr was and where she was born, she asked the nurse to request her med. records.

i was freaking out inside but i stood very calm.  she turned and looked at me and said we have a situtaion. jordyn has a heart murmur. i've never heard it before and i'm going to request her med records.  ok. (breath; breath; breath) she said, i really want her to see a pediatric cardiologist.  She said she was going to do a rush request from the insurance company.

i asked her if i need to worry and asked her to explain a heart murmur, she said that they can be common in kids and they are usually born with it. i asked if i needed to be worried, but she said she didnt want me worry but also not to worry.  OK!?!?

She said that she may have been born with it and it wasnt very noticable but because she was sick and it was harder for her to breath it was more noticeable.  she also said the fact that jordyn had a fever could have a factor. she reassured me she'd stay on top of the insurance company and would call me asap.  she also said that if i didnt receive anything by today wed to call her.

since last week i've spoken to people and i've been pretty calm UNTIL NOW.  the nurse called me and said she got the go ahead to go see the specialist, she said shed fax the form and she did, i was reading it and i see the notes the dr put, not sure if this form should have came to me, but the one i got in the mail doesnt state what the dr wrote on her request.

anyway, the notes say that jordyn  has a very loud ----- murmer.

VERY LOUD??? she didnt say anything about it being loud. all she said was it was there... does a very soft or loud murmur make a difference??

i'm really freaking out now...cant wait till i can call the dr tomorrow and get my baby in!

Re: really nervous, regarding jordyn...

  • I'm so sorry you have to go through this! I can't imagine how freaked out & scared you must be :o(  Hopefully the doctor's can squeeze you in and give you some much needed answers. I will definitely keep you & Jordyn in my thoughts & prayers. Hopefully, the ped is right, and there's nothing to worry about. But of course, not worrying is much easier said than done. Good luck tomorrow! Keep us posted!
  • Good luck Lorena. I'll be thinking about you guys and sending good thoughts your way... Hopefully it's not anything to be alarmed by.

FWIW - I was born with an heart murmur. Still have it today. I was able to live an active life with out meds or regular doctors visits. It's never an issue except when they listen to my heartbeat and it's brought up then.

    (((hugs))))?

    ?

  • I'm so sorry that you're going through this scary ordeal. Try to relax until you get in to see the cardio. My sister was born with a murmur and outgrew it by the time she started kindergarten. It never limited her activities and was just something that they kept on eye on. My understanding is that murmurs are pretty common and are usually not a big deal. I hope that they get you in quickly and have some answers for you. I'll keep your family in my thoughts!
  • Sending you lots of ((hugs)) and prayers. I hope you get some answers tomorrow.
  • positive thoughts and vibes that everything turns out okay. Keep us posted!

  • Lorena, I'm so sorry you're going through this and freaking out.  Like the other girls said try to stay calm.  ((((HUGS)))) I'll be thinking of you and Jordyn.  Prayers to you all too.
  • Lorena, lots of hugs to you. ?Like everyone else said not worrying is easier said then done, and a lot of kids outgrow their murmurs. As far as it being loud, it just refers to how easily it is heard. ?They can range from soft to loud.

I hope everything is OK with your little one. ?Will be praying for you & her.?

  • I'm keeping you guys in my prayers. I know it is a scary thing, but stay positive. Lots of hugs to you guys.
