jumping on the cookie bandwagon

DH has requested sugar cookies. Here's the thing, I'm super picky about cookie consistency, and specifically of sugar cookies. I like a nice crumble, but NO crunch and they have to be moist and relatively soft. Please suggest to me your favorite sugar cookie recipe.

Also, what is up with some recipes calling for cream of tarter or cinnamon? Isn't the point of sugar cookies their buttery, sugary goodness? What does cream of tarter even do?

Re: jumping on the cookie bandwagon

  • Cream of tartar just stabilizes egg whites. It shouldn't affect the taste, just the texture.?

Seriously my favorite sugar cookie is the Pillsbury slice and bake or even the ones where you just open the package and bake - they're like crack and I think they fit your description perfectly.
