So what do I do with it?
Background Story:
When I was job searching I applied to what appeared to be a part-time receivables position for Starbucks. When the person emailed me back, he stated I was in the final running as a candidate and needed some more information. Thinking to myself, wow, I sent over the information (general questions about my work history and such). Then I receive an email saying that I was hired and that all I had to do is receive checks cash them and send a percentage to an address given. First thought was damn it I thought I was getting hired by Starbucks..lol. Second thought was that this is a scam and I will just ignore it and go on my merry way. This was almost a week ago, yesterday I received an email from him stating that a check was mailed to me and I should follow the instructions provided. I followed up with a stern emailing stating that I was aware of the scam and that he should delete me from his system. Once again, I thought it was all over and went on my merry way. When I came home there was an envelope in my mailbox and when I opened it there was a $4500 check in it. What should I do with the check?
a) rip it up and go on my merry way again.
b) Take the envelope and emails to the cops.
c) cash it and go on a spending spree...lol (it's for sure a fake check)
d) Call the bank on the check and report it.
I'm lost for words at this point. This last two months of my life can be a best selling book!
Re: I just received a $4500 ck in the mail!!!
Ditto pp's.
Unless you could cash it no strings attached at a check cashing place, which would be awesome but I don't think it's possible to do it without giving out personal info that would allow the scammer to rip you off.
this is SO not what i was expecting when i clicked on the post.
ditto the PPs. ?don't cash the check. ?it'll do you more harm than good, methinks.?
