%&@$# snow!!

We have had over 2 feet of snow in our neighborhood (Milwaukie) for over a week, it just won't melt and go away.  DH has snow tires on his car, so he's been going to work as usual, driving me on errands, drove for Christmas yesterday, etc etc.  I drive a 4wd, but don't have snow tires on my car.  Most of the roads look really good, but our road is awful (we are at the top of a huge hill).  My BFF is in town from LA and we made plans to go for lunch and pedi's today.  I was sooooo excited to get out of the house and go play with her!

I had DH back my car out of the driveway a few times last night, to make a path for me in the morning.  Then this morning I get up and scrape at least a foot of snow and ice off my car (with a decent sized pregnant belly to work around).  I'm soaking wet and pissed at the fvcking snow.  I get in my car, kick it into reverse, and get out of the driveway just fine.  I shift into Drive, and my tires start spinning,  I slide all over the damn street.  I put on my emergency flashers and walk up to my neighbor's house, they come out and shovel the road clear and help me get my car back into my driveway.  It takes about an hour for them to do that.

So now I'm sitting here BACK inside my house.  I called and cancelled on my friend.  My toes are a mess, and I desperately wanted some girl time with my BFF!

I haven't been out on my own since Friday the 19th when I drove home from work.

Argh. Stupid snow. Anybody else still stuck?

  • We are still stuck.  It's no big deal for me because I take MAX to work.  DH on the other hand is cursing the snow daily.  He is having to take MAX and for someone that hates public transportation, he's been in a "mood".

We had to postpone our Christmas celebrations because we can't get out of our driveway.  DH hasn't even finished shopping yet.

I love the snow (I am formerly from the East Coast), but this is getting old fast.

  • Today was my first day out on my own. We have an AWD suv with traction tires and chains just in case. We also have a rear wheel drive, too cool for chains Mercedes, literally they don't make them. It's also been blocked in the driveway by our lovely 3ft snow bank.

DH was headstrong to let me have my car back, so we dug out his Mercedes this morning. He then got stuck at the end of our road, so I had to dig  him out. I spent the afternoon getting retail therapy. I love snow, but we're just not prepped for it around here. Just like everyone else we haven't seen a plow and our street is nasty. Thankfully, they have plowed the hill. I just wish they would have made a left turn on to our street.
