Hotel Recommendations...

My  husband and I are planning one final "getaway" weekend for sometime in the spring before our second little bundle arrives.  We are from NJ but looking for something in CT...I am looking something special, great food, has to have a spa, and would be a great place for us to have one last romantic weekend together for a while!!!!! Anything that you could recommend would be very much appreciated...thanks!!!!

Re: Hotel Recommendations...

  • I would go to Mohegan Sun Casino.  They have a hotel with a spa on-site, free shows, and the best restaurants I have ever been to!  They also have a Ben and Jerrys!

You are close to everything also.  Mystic CT is only about 15-20 minutes from the casino.  There is a lot to do there also.

  • If you want a more "Connecticut" feel I would recommend:

Bee & Thistle Inn- my Mom has been begging to go there- apparently it is REALLY romantic.

Copper Beach Inn or Griswald Inn- not sure if they have a spa but there is The Spa of Essex, CT

    Saybrook Point Inn & Spa

    Water's Edge Resort & Spa

The casinos are fun for people who live in CT- but when I was living in NJ for a year I would rather have spent the weekend some place with more of a CT feel than a casino. I'm not trying to belittle the previous posts- but as a proud CT resident I like to look beyond casinos as I feel like they are generic and our state has more to offer visiters from other states.

(I love visiting the casinos as well though- and you will have fun if you go there!)
