DH and I went Goodwill-ing this evening just to get out of the house cheaply (and I'm looking for wool sweaters to make DS more diaper covers). We were at the So. Co. Goodwill on Lindbergh and DH found a new pair of Ralph Lauren khakis in his size with the tag still on ($115 was on the tag) for $6! I can't believe someone would pay that much for a pair of pants, never wear them, and then donate them. There's a lot of crap there, but there are also some awsome deals to be found.
Re: I PPH Goodwill!
Yeea! That sounds like a *great* deal
I've found some great deals at Goodwill too! We go once every couple months and always find something that we need or want
Now that was an awesome deal. I've found some really nice things there and am drawn to their furniture and household items. I love finding pretty dishes and glass items for a steal compared to the exact item's price at an antique mall. At that So Co location I've found a tall, lighted display cabinet with lots of storage underneath for $75, a beautiful Victorian love seat for $50, a gorgeous dresser with mirrored hutch for $100. I really wanted a Simply Shabby Chic Ar moire being sold for half the price it is sold at Target but was trying to exercise control since my house is so small.I put the slip back on it so someone else could get it but watched it be wheeled out to this woman's minivan and be loaded. I couldn't help myself it was soooo pretty! Yeah, I've got issues.
And it's a great way to recycle. I'm always having to remind my family not to throw their things away. Donate them. My MIL once began throwing boxes of clothes, dishes and really nice blankets in the dumpster just to get rid of them. We stopped her and grabbed what we could and donated it. But some people just don't get it. I once took a lady at work there who scrunched up her face in disgust and walked out complaining she couldn't handle the smell!?! Yet she compliments me every time I wear something I have purchased at a Goodwill or other Thrift store. I just smile and laugh to myself.
The funnest Goodwill story I've heard of was two young couples who went on a double date dressed in Goodwill attire. The boys selected an outfit for the girl to wear and vice versa. Then they went to the mall dressed in their oversized floral dress and hat, or bell bottoms, construction vest and floppy hat while everyone gave them odd looks.
