Costal Homeowners

How much is your homeowners insurance if you don't mind me asking?  We are about to close on our first home and the qutoes of nearly 5K a year are killing me.  KILLING me.

Re: Costal Homeowners

  • We were about 20 minutes from the ocean and ours was about $1200 a year. But right after we got our insurance, many of the companies dropped a lot of policies and/or quit writing policies for coastal areas.  That could be why you're getting such a high quote.

By the way, your house is absolutely gorgeous! It is pretty close to my dream home! Where in SC are you building, if you don't mind my asking?

  • Your home is absolutely beautiful!  No wonder it is a fortune to insure... but out of curiosity, didn't you check on the cost of insuring it before you bought it?

We do not have a costal home, but our home owners insurance is through Peerless.  They had the best prices we found for our area.

  • We are in Charleston.  We did check on the cost, we are building and got costs for the neighborhood but this is a bit higher than what we were told.  I have since found a better deal (more in line with what we were expecting of 3,500).
