I definitely wouldn't go past three months.  I sent mine out like 6-8 months before, and it was just a beach wedding in Destin.  I wanted people to have time to save money for hotels and plan transportation details.

We sent ours in January and our wedding was in July, here in town. We had a lot of family coming from OOT so we wanted them to have the chance to find cheap flights.

I would send them at LEAST three months out.  I sent mine around November because most of our guests were OOT... my wedding was March 1.

I think 6 months ahead of time is pretty standard for destination weddings or weddings on holiday weekends.

 So, I would send them out 3 months ahead of time, if not before.

We sent ours out in May for a November wedding. We got married on Veterans Day and had almost everyone coming from out of town, so we wanted to give everyone enough time for travel arrangements.

I sent mine 7-8 months out because 1. we had a destination wedding in Florida and 2. all of DH's family is in New York and New Jersey and they needed plenty of time to plan accordingly.

we sent ours out about 8 mos before the wedding..so about 6 mos before invites went out. all of my family was coming from oot and it was right after christmas, so i wanted to give them all a heads up
