Wedding anniversaries by year.

I was having a conversation this past weekend about anniversary presents.  My sister mentioned that there are traditional gifts for each year.  I had never heard of this but we thought it was kind of cool.  DH and I decided we are going to try to stick to this for each anniversary.  Since year one is paper, I got a groupon for a couple's massage.  I'll get him something for just him too, but I don't know what yet.  I think this will be fun and it will add a challenge to see who better fit the tradition.  Anyone else heard of this or is doing it?  Link below for what each year is.

Re: Wedding anniversaries by year.

  • We are planning on doing this also. I'm still trying to think of something for paper. I thought about tickets to a concert.

  • I knew about this and was trying to do it, even though I know H won't haha.  I thought about framing our vows for our nightstands, or football tickets but our teams aren't playing each other this year [-( I might still find tickets for his team...

  • I've heard of it before. Honestly, my H would not buy into doing this, but maybe I'll try to do it for fun. I actually just bought Zac Brown Band tickets for us the Friday after our anniversary....so maybe that could count as my gift since my husband hates country and is allowing me to drag him to a concert! Haha I would do sports tickets for him, but Oct is too late for regular season tickets for baseball and while I don't watch, I know the Angels have no chance! Ha. I love the idea of framing our vows! Is anyone thinking of doing the modern twist with a clock? I got him a watch for Christmas last year....

  • I doubt we'll actually try to keep up with it. His gift to me is tickets to see Mumford & Sons, so it's kinda sorta paper, but still. I think we could do the first two years, but we'll see!

  • I knew about these, but I didn't think about actually doing it.  I know H won't, even if I tell him to.  Maybe I'll start thinking of a good paper gift.  I'd like to hear about your creative ideas!

I can't frame our vows because we used standard vows, we didn't write our own.  For tickets, we'd have to go to a sporting event since H doesn't really go to concerts unless it's for me.  The Mets definitely aren't making it to the playoffs, so we wouldn't be able to see them in October.  H is a big Jets fan, but it could be cold for football (for me, not H).  Hmmm
  • This is all I could think of for paper: Tickets (game, concert, plane tickets, etc) groupons, books, boudoir photos (photo paper counts right?) a cheesy coupon book, that's really all I got.  Anyone else?
  • One of my friends literally just posted this on pinterest: http://pinterest.com/pin/163185186471211474/
