Do you prefer carpet or hardwood flooring? What do you have?

Re: QOD 8-6

  • Hardwood! We have a little bit of everything. Bedrooms and hallway is carpet, living room is hardwood, and kitchen and bathroom are tile.
  • Also Hardwood, I just think its easier to keep and I like the look better.

  • Hardwood! It's so much easier to clean and keep clean.

We are renting and have carpeting right now...ugh!

  • Hardwood!  The only room that we have carpet in right now is the basement family room... and we'll be replacing it with hardwood in a couple weeks :)

  • Hardwood. We replaced all the carpet in the house several months ago. So much cleaner! We do have a few area rugs. The only place we have full carpet is the lower level (finished basement, but its not really a basement since our house is split level ranch). That will stay.

Are you doing actual hardwood or laminate? Hardwood is not ideal for a basement. You'll get cracking and warping.
  • We have carpet in the bedrooms, tile in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room. Hardwood everywhere else.

Same here! Our apartment has carpets and I just always feel like it's dirty! Probably because it's covered in dog hair no matter how much I vacuum!

Yea, we're leaning towards using Pergo down there, not real hardwood. Although hardwood should be fine too because we live in a raised ranch, so it's not a "true basement".  Thanks for looking out though :)

  • I'm actually one of those crazy people who prefer laminate, engineered hardwood or pressed concrete.  I like the look of hardwood, but don't like the upkeep or how soft it is and can get nicks in it really easy and trying to protect it from water (my parents had hardwood growing up) and I HATE carpet. A good quality laminate is quite durable and everyone who has been in our house thinks we have hardwood....
