Suggestions for chairs to go with this dining table?

Hi everyone, first time posting here, but I love reading all your tips and ideas and now I need some input!  :)

I just got this teak dining table, and am not sure what to do for chairs.

With all the monochrome wood (table, floor, doors, trim), I want something contrasting for the chairs.  One possibility is painting the IKEA Stefan chairs, but I have no idea what color!  What do you suggest?

Re: Suggestions for chairs to go with this dining table?

  • I can't tell. Are your curtains white? You definitely need some color in that room. Are you going to put an area rug under the table? I suggest you do- and that you pick one out (preferably with a bold pattern) and then paint the chairs a color from the rug.

  • I think this green provides a nice contrast: http://krrb.com/posts/10041-2-ikea-stefan-chairs. Blue would also work.
  • area rug, flower and beautiful vase, colourful fruit in large glass bowl can add accent to your room.
  • Thanks everyone!  You're right; I need a rug.  I was avoiding it because it would be the only non-hard floor in my apartment and thus require hauling out the vacuum just for that little area :)  The "curtains" are icky off-white vertical blinds, but it's a rental so we're stuck with them!

I'll post the results once I do something to spruce up the space!
