Married Life
Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.

Thank you.

Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.

What are the points for?

Clicked on my bio or something after logging in and it told me I have been here 2 years.  It's been more but I had a diff e-mail then).  Anyway, it told me I had like 60 some points.  WTF are the points for?

Re: What are the points for?

  • Feeling special.

The place used to be overrun with people who had been around for years and people who had crazy post counts.  Since they lost most of those people in the last "upgrade" it created a pretty big disparity between the few still around and the new people coming in.  My guess is that the "points" system is supposed to even the playing field a bit.  Make it less obvious who the regs are, and maybe the newbies are more likely to post and rebuild the community.

Hey @kat174 the point system and the badges go together. Members automatically earn badges based on their positive community behavior/interaction (number of comments, tagging fellow Nesties, answering first to a thread, etc). We never “give” out badges, they will show up on their own once the user hits a certain achievement.

  • Interesting.
  • So what do you use the points for???  Anything or what's the point of having them?

The points are for earning badges! The more positive interaction you have on the community the more points you will receive and eventually those will earn you certain badges. You'll then see those badges once you earn them in your profile!

  • You used to be able to earn a toaster for posting, but that was the old Nest. I guess that's gone away.
