Swai?

Has anyone cooked swai before? It's on sale at my grocery store and I'd like to try it. I'm thinking I'll broil it with some lemon and herbs.

  • I'm with Chrisnjay. I have never tried it, but I assume it is a milder white fish like tilapia. I would put it on a piece of tin foil, pour some salsa over it, and make a pouch/packet out of the foil. Cook on George Foreman for about 10 minutes until done.

  • I made it tonight, definitely a different taste than any other white fish I've had. I baked it in a butter/white wine/cilantro/paprika mixture that I reduced a bit first. I think next time I'll bake it with white wine and tomatoes, I think that would be really yummy! I saw a lot of online suggestions to use it in fish tacos and I think that would be really good as well.

  • If I had to compare it to another fish tilapia definitely would have been the closest, so you were not far off!

  • You might want to also try sprinkling some 21 Salute Seasoning from Trader Joes if it's available to you... I like using that to just give a little extra oomph to milder flavored ingredients. I've used it on white fishes before (not exactly Swai but also very mild) baked around onions, olive oil, oregano, and lemon juice and it was delicious!
