I think we have all been there.

I broke up with Atlas Shrugged after making it more than halfway through.

  • There have been a few... Life is too short to read bad books!
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

  • It really only bums me out to ditch a book when it is when it is one that someone I know & like has really highly recommended them- I feel like I must be letting them down by not liking it ;)

  • Ugh.  I keep picking up Moby Dick.  I swear I've been reading it for about 10 years.

  • I tried reading Atlas Shrugged in high school because I was trying to be "deep." And then I realized I prefer MUCH shallower reading.

I regularly put down books and give up on them. I don't feel AT ALL like I have to finish every book I have started.

I had to read this for a class once.  It's one of those books I would have definitely put down had I not had to read it.

I only feel guilty for breaking up with a book if it's for a book club.

  • The Memory Keeper's Daughter and The Tenth Circle come to mind. They aren't classics, but they were highly recommended to me and I couldn't finish them.

  • I feel like I am at Stage 4 with Horns. I feel like it is never ending and just got realllllly slow and boring. :(

  • If I'm not into a book by the 2nd or 3rd chapter, chances are I'll put aside the book.  I always try again at a later date, and most of the time my mood or something is different and I'm able to get through it.

That does not sound good. I just picked up The Memory Keeper's Daughter at a used book sell.
