I think it had more to do with their policies and unappealing candidates more so than data and analytics. That said, I've read several articles praising the communications and data teams of the DNC in 2012 and I do think it helped us excite and reach members of the base and others. I guess what I'm trying to say, though, is that you can have all the data and analytics you want but if your core policies and outlook don't appeal to the majority of voters, you will never win.

you know what I think?  Mitt was not conservative enough for all the republicans to come out and vote for him.  There were so many republicans that didn't vote for him, so I guess they were ok that obama got re-elected.  I honestly believe that they need to get a super republican candidate to win next time.  I have also decided that I'm an independent voter and wish there would be a candidate that would appeal to both sides.  I'm kinda done with the political games.

Well, even Chris Matthews (for what it's worth) is predicting the GOP is going to do an about face in 2016.

“I believe the Republican party is going to go hard-right in 2016,” Mr. Matthews said Wednesday on MSNBC. “It’s going to someone from the growing hard-right wing of the party, something it hasn’t done since 1980.”

I think Chris Christie has lost his appeal to most republican voters.  Chris Matthews was speaking of Rand Paul.  Who, although a Tea Party favorite, embodies a more libertarian philosophy than an establishment GOP philosophy.  I would vote for Rand.

I don't get the King of Bacon thing.  What does that mean? Although, I don't get Rand Paul or why anyone would like him, so there is that too.

Ahhh! Thanks for the clarification @cicnychick35.  

It's kind of hard to believe he wasn't also making an undercover crack at his weight though.  

It also makes me not like Rand Paul even more.  The people affected by Sandy pay taxes just like everyone else.  They are entitled to relief.  As a Governor, how is it Christie's responsibility to make suggestions for cuts in the federal budget? I don't like him, but asking for federal funds to help his state recover is part of doing his job as Governor.  It sounds like Paul was really posturing with that one. Rand is already gearing up for 2016, eh?
