Sealing furniture for outdoor use

I have this table (it's chrome and wood, I believe) and would like to place it on my front porch. There's a roof, but it would still be exposed to the elements. Is there something I can seal it with so the chrome doesn't rust and the wood doesn't warp or should I just find a new place to put it? Thanks!

Re: Sealing furniture for outdoor use

  • Any sort of clear outdoor-use polyurethane will work, and they even make it in a spray can for easy application.  Look in your hardware store near the other spray paints, and make sure to follow the instructions, which recommend at least three coats for the best protection.
  • I was told you do not need to seal if you use exterior paint.

I was worried it would be sticky or peel or would discolor the chrome. No?

I used an epoxy floor coating- it was thick and a little hard to put on, and a little expensive but did the charm on my wooden table.
