WIJFR: The Cuckoo's Calling

I get why she released it under a pseudonym.  There's a lot of cursing, a lot of unlikable people, etc.  Same thing with The Casual Vacancy.  But there were also some nice characters, interesting backgrounds, and a whole lot of whodunit.  It was fun, occasionally sloggy like in DH during the months long camping trip but everything came together quite nicely in the end.

  • I'm reading this now. I'm finding it pretty boring so far. I'm only about 100 pages in, though. Does it pick up any?

  • It definitely gets more intriguing. There's a lot of visits and figuring stuff out. Not a lot of running around or actiony type stuff. Have you read Patricia Cornwell's Kay scarpetta series? Similar to that.

  • I'm looking forward to reading this!
  • Is it weird that I have no desire to read this or The Casual Vacancy? Am I alone in this?
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

  • No. A lot of people feel that way. But I'm willing to let her tell me whatever story she wants. Same with every other author I enjoy. Their world, their story.

Am I a jkr fan? Always.

Nope. You're not alone. I feel bad but I will probably just buy them to support her and never read them. I love JKR like she's family but neither of her non HP books sound like ones I'd normally read.

Thanks for making that comparison. I have read some of the Scarpetta series so that helps a lot. I think I will like this book then, because I enjoyed the Scarpetta series!!
