Notification when you're quoted?

@NestCayla, I'd have an enhancement request. It would be nice if we could get a notification when someone quotes one of our replies, because most people don't think about manually tagging someone after quoting them. I don't want to subscribe to every discussion I comment on, but I would like to know if someone has a comment or reply specific to what I've said.

Would anyone else be interested in that feature?

I was just wondering if this was a "thing" I could turn on.

It's already a thing.  If you go up to the top of the screen just below the banner, the right hand side has a globe, an envelope, a star and a head.  Click on the globe and that's your notifications.  You can turn any of them on or off.

I think the tagging is supposed to replace this, but I'm so used to quoting that it's instinctual.

Hey @GilliC -- thanks for asking about this. While right now you won't see in your notifications the exact wording like "you have been quoted in a post" rather it will say that you have been mentioned in a post. So, when you set your notifications in your preferences, when you set it to be notified when you are mentioned you are also setting it so when you are tagged and quoted. These all fall under that same type of notification.

While right now you won't see in your notifications the exact wording like "you have been quoted in a post" rather it will say that you have been mentioned in a post. So, when you set your notifications in your preferences, when you set it to be notified when you are mentioned you are also setting it so when you are tagged and quoted. These all fall under that same type of notification.

If that's the case, then I don't think it's working. I don't get a notification when someone quotes me, only when they tag me.

How are you receiving your notifications? via email or popup?

Yes -- I understand that. Your notifications will say that you have been mentioned in a post -- this could mean that you were tagged in a post or that you were quoted in a post.

Yes -- I understand that. Your notifications will say that you have been mentioned in a post -- this could mean that you were tagged in a post or that you were quoted in a post.

It does not do this.  I was quoted in the Dr.Who thread more than once, and I have nothing in my notifications saying that I was mentioned in that discussion.

If it's supposed to be doing this, please contact the tech team, because it's not working!
