Flat Iron

I have super thin, naturally curly hair.  Please recommend a flat iron that will not kill what little hair I have.  Thanks!

Re: Flat Iron

  • I have natrually curly hair too, but more medium than thin.  I absolutely love my Chi, and will probably never by another brand again.  This is my 3rd, and they last a lot longer than some of the cheaper brands, usually 2-3 years (and I straighten my hair a lot).  My previous Chi still works ok, I probably should've just taken better care of the paddles.  The one I have now has a temperature setting (this is the first one I've gotten that has this), so I would recommend it.  I crank it up all the way, but you could fine-tune whatever setting works best for your hair.  When I first started straightening my hair, I fried it pretty bad.  I found the key is a protecting product.  What works best for my hair is the Frizz-Ease Straigh Fixation.  It's a cream that helps tame the frizz and protect.  I just put about a dime size amount throughout my hair before blow drying and flat-ironing (I have really long hair these days).  I also like their Secret Weapon after the flat-iron.  It helps tame frizz a lot, so you could probably use a lower heat setting on the flat iron and still get away with very little frizz.  Hope this isn't TMI and helps!  Good luck!

  • Sedu.

  • My hair is thick and wavy. Even though it is different thanks yours, I thought I would chime in on the Chi. I love mine. I use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny to protect my hair.

  • I agree on the Chi!
  • Definitely the Sedu. I replaced my Chi with Sedu 5 years ago and haven't looked back since. I like the Sedu better than the chi because you can control the temp... For fine hair your flat iron doesn't need to be 400 degrees. Great deals and sales on folica.com
  • I have opposite hair than you but you should do your research and consider Babybliss Titanium. I bought it after my 3rd Chi went kaput and I have never looked back. I love it. It used to take me 1 hour to straighten my hair and still it never got straight and now it takes me 20 mins and it is straight like a board! I love it. NO damage at all and it has temp. adjustments so you can make sure to use the one that they recommend for your hair type. Worth the investment
  • CHI! I'm on my second one, and no other straightener has worked for me. Ever. fine-medium curly hair.
  • I like the GHD. Folica has good reviews of the best flat irons.
  • I am a fan of Fahrenheit Tools. Their flat irons are ceramic and you can control the temperature!
