The dude and I have enlisted in the grandmothers so we can go out next Friday. Looking for restaurant recs. I'm torn between the city and maybe doylestown. So any rec is good. Looking for American or Italian. Not looking to break the bank but wouldn't mind spending a little. Sorry, I know this is kind of all over the place. Also, if we can make a reservation, even better since we don't want to be out all night.

Re: Date night
I am thumbs down on Osteria.
I am two major thumbs up on Le Virtu - if you have no problem going to Passyunk. It is ridiculously great.
A friend whose opinion i trust greatly is in love with Monsu at 9th adn Christian. Same guy as Modo Mio in NoLibs.
I recently had a date night at Il Pittore, a Stephen Starr joint at 21st and Sansom and I loved just about everything we ate AND the service was impeccable and stood out. I liked our date there so much but am also glad we had a gift certif. That said, when a menu has an antipasti, primi and secondi, we both always order all three courses. So if you aren't three-course people, you can get away with it. ALSO there is a cute cocktail bar called 1 Tippling nearby . I have no idea what it is like later hours, but I went once right after work and it was pleasant and comfy.
