    90 books in 2015?
    image
  • 1) That's abysmal
    2) It happened in only a couple years.  I mean, James Patterson has been writing for quite some time!
    3) How is it determine that it's the highest?  Is it a per book thing? So 30 million a book? Or is it total career? I Googled Stephen King's net worth and it gave an estimated 400 million. Is that because of TV, films, appearances, etc? And not just his writing?

  • 95 million dollars for porny plagiarism. Amazing.

    Nope. I refuse to believe it.

  • Seriously? I am pretty shocked by that one. I have never read anything she wrote and don't plan too... how is she over all my favorite authors who are amazing?

    =;

  • I find this hard to believe with only 3 books.  3 very crappy books.  I mean, I know a lot of women who don't read regularly came out to read these ones, but no way it eclipses all the regular readers who actually have taste...

    If it does, we have reached a new low as a society...

    If so, that's even more depressing.

    Did you also see that it said 1 out of every 17 hardcover books purchase in the US is a James Patterson book? Really ?!

    He doesn't count as an author anymore, imo.  He licenses his name out.

  • Dude, had I known that writing erotic Twilight ff could have possibly made me this kind of $$, I would have hopped on that train, for sure.

    This X 100,000,000. I feel sad that I gave in to my curiosity after all the controversy and contributed to that pile of money.

    Yes, but then everyone here would be judging you and calling you names. Which may be okay... you wouldn't be able to hear them sitting on top of your pile of MONEY.

    To clarify - I don't judge anyone for writing Twilight fanfic. I do however judge and have nothing but contempt for EL James and make no apologies for it.

    I doubt she can hear me from the top of her pile of money anyway. Junewhatevs.

    Yeah. I hear that. It just makes me wonder about the universe, you know? Like, what stars aligned to make this magic happen for her when there are other writers out there (good ones!) who will never see the light of day. It proves that you don't have to be a GREAT writer to be a successful one. Though, I think that's been proved many times over through the years.
