back at it.

I started using OPK's again and today, CD19 I got a positive.  Ben and I had sexy time yesterday and I'll pull him in the sack again tonight...

heres to trying the good old fashioned way!

Re: back at it.

  • Good luck! How long are your cycles? I feel like punching my OB out for telling me that every woman ovulates 14 days before her period. I'm also considering switching to a midwife, do you have any recommendations?

  • My cycles vary anywhere from 25-32 days long. so if I have a 32 day long cycle than ovulating on CD 19 is OK, not awesome, but OK.  but if its a 25 day long cycle than I won't get pregnant...

I do see a midwife at All About Women her name is Clare Szymanski and I think she's great. but she isn't the one who told me that I don't ovulate on day 14, I Iearned that when I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility and by lurking on the Getting Pregnant Board.

I suggest both of those things! if you decide to check out the GP board def. lurk first as they hate it when people don't intro and when they don't understand how the board really works.

and changing your OB doesn't sound like a terrible idea because its quite ignorant IMO to tell a client that she ovulates on day 14.

  • Ive only been going at this ovulation thing for a few months, but do you find your O date changing on certain months? I have clomid and its just burning a hole in my hand because I want to just get pregnant already but I'm afraid to without any further testing. I got Clear Blue OPK's for this month and from what I believe I O on CD 15-16 so I'm curious to see what the Clear Blue OPK's say compared to the cheapies this month. I also have another progesterone test on CD 20 this month.

Ive been going to Trouble TTC from time to time and TTC after a Loss too but I kind of try staying away from the boards unless I have a specific question. I feel bad asking questions but not having the time to contribute much.

Now I feel like I need some wine!

  • I don't ovulate the same day every month, but I know I ovulate late. so somewhere between CD16-19 generally.

Again I wouldn't suggest taking clomid without being monitored by a doctor. you could easily overstimulate yourself and end up causing real damage.

  • Yay!!! Here's to trying the old fashioned way ... and having lots of sexy time!

I also see Clare. She, along with Dr. Larkin, delivered Teddy. I couldn't say enough good things about Clare. I love her to pieces.

This is me, too. I did OPK for both my girls and it was not day 14!

  • I'm never day 14 for ovulating. My cycles have been crazy since having M. Either 26-34. I was 28 days on the dot prior to having him.

  • Yay for sexy time. When we went to RE, I would O around 13 or 14. I'm so predictable. ;-)

  • Only thing I'm certain of right now is that I get my period every 24 days lol

I looked at that midwife from AAW, how is she with taking charting and such under consideration? My doctor didnt care at all, she didnt even want to see or hear about them. So frustrating.

I'm sure she would look at them, but when I discussed my issues with her she sent me straight to the RE because she wanted to make sure I was getting the best advice possible.

She said to me this isn't my specialty so i'm going to send you to someone who can help you.

Most OBGYN's aren't fertility experts and so they really have no idea how to get you pregnant.  its like talking to a nerosurgen about your eys, and saying but my eyes are in my head?! KWIM?

  • Makes sense...maybe I should go straight to the RE if we dot have any success in the next 2 mos or so.

I wouldn't rush into it.  you've had success getting pregnant before so you will again. once you start going to the RE shit gets really stressful. remember, even with perfect timing it can take a healthy couple up to a year to get pregnant.
