Living Room Help!

So I just brought my first townhouse (yay!) And since it will be the centre of any future entertaining, my living room is looking kinda sparse. I know that it is in dire need of a few things from all the inspiration stuff I've seen on here, but I just don't know where to go from here.
I would love to keep the colour scheme as grey & turqoiuse with pops of red.

1. The window behind the couch is a bit of an eye-sore but not sure what type of window treatment would work (roman blinds are too expense, but would drapes work?).

2. I can't change the layout of the couches due to the TV niche and the attached dining room, but I'm wondering if I should be adding any other pieces to the equation.

3. On that note, I'm pretty sure the red chair might not work well with the whole space. It's just there temporarily, til i can figure out what type of alternate seating I'd like to switch it with.

4. I think an area rug might be needed, but I'm not sure what type/pattern etc.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Re: Living Room Help!

  • I would cover basically that whole wall with drapes. Mount them very close to the ceiling and wide enough that you can pull the drapes all the way away from the window on each side.
You need a larger picture (or turn it into a gallery collage type deal) on the other wall. That small picture looks dwarfed by the wall.
What's going on on the right side of the seat under the window? Is that a lamp: Does it have a stand? I think you need something there that goes higher up.
Can you mount the TV? Or put some artwork above it.
I think a larger coffee table might help the space too.
When picking artwork, definitely try to find / make some things that tie the red, turquoise, grey together. You can also do that with a rug and/or the drapes.
