"Panther" Kitty AKA "Kiva" HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I vaccinated my newly rescued F3 Snow Bengal cat with the drops last night. We just got her yesterday. today, i noticed that her nipples are pink. I'm scared that she could be pregnant, her foster told me she was spayed but I can't find a scar. Will Feline Focus 3 Drops hurt any fetal kittens that may be growing in her belly? Help!!!!!!!!

Re: "Panther" Kitty AKA "Kiva" HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What do you mean "vaccinated...with the drops"? What the heck are Feline Focus 3 drops?

I'm fairly certain that nipples are normally somewhat pinkish. There's no way in hell I'd be able to find the spay scar on either of my cats; they fade pretty substantially. I never even see the scar on my Boxer, and she doesn't have any hair in the way.

  • I've never heard of these drops either, but I agree with PP. You won't be able to see the scar. We also have a boxer. Her wound dihissed when she was a pup, and left an ugly scar initially- it's faded nearly completely now. I would never be able to find the scar on our cat.

Also, you should be taking her to the vet for a physical ASAP either way, since she's newly rescued. They'll be able to help you.

Any rescue organization worth their salt would not adopt out unaltered animals.

  •  It's apparently a pretty cheap at-home vaccine for Feline Rhinotracheitis, Calici, and Panleukopenia. It doesn't sound familiar to me, and I'm pretty sure my cats don't get vaccinations for any of that (I try to give as few as possible).

I agree, though, if you got the cat from a good rescue, I doubt they would adopt out without spaying. But I can't find the scar on our girl cat, either. If you're really concerned, take her to the vet. Really, as PP mentioned, you should take her to the vet anyway, just to get her checked out.
  • While I do recommend proper vaccination against those 3 disease ESPECIALLY in a young cat I do not recommend the intranasal vaccine, it gives poor systemic immunity. Talk to your vet about appropriate vaccination of your kitty

Also talk to your vet about the possibility of pregnancy. While nothing you say sounds like a pregnancy symptom your vet will be able to give you the best advice.

  • @Djinxs just and fyi. If you give any vaccination beyond a rabies I am pretty sure your kitty gets these vaccines. They are apart of the standard vaccination protocols for any cat because all 3 of these disease have a very high infection rate and some have a relatively high death rate especially in young cats.

  • @aggiebug It could be, I guess. I'm much less informed about my cat's vaccines than I'd like to be, I just didn't remember any of those names when I've asked. But maybe the vet just gave me the brand name of the vaccine or something.

I guess I've just never heard of or had experience with at-home vaccines and drops. Didn't even know that was a thing until I Googled Feline Focus 3!
  • I am not surprised at all. Sometimes it's called Feline Distemper, or FERCP or a few other shortened names. Here is a link that might help sort out what they are for. https://www.avma.org/about/alliedorganizations/pages/rbbroch.aspx. (herpes is rhinotracheitis)

Rabies is the only vaccine you have to get from a vet, that being said you never know how they are handled and thus how effective in home vaccines are. And, more importantly, with the possibility of vaccine related sarcomas (a locally aggressive cancer) I would hope your vet is doing their due diligence to choose a good vaccine with less risk for causing the cancer than what you may buy over the counter.
