Question for those that have big dogs

Re: Question for those that have big dogs

  • I only have a yorkie, but he chews like there is no tomorrow. He destroys all Kongs, except the black one, and even that has chunks missing. He does pretty well with antlers and solid bones. I never get him rawhide or soft toys or anything not for an extreme chewer because he destroys them in under a minute. No joke.

Moral: Black kongs are good, heavy bones and antlers are great. If I want to occupy his time we sometimes put something in some of the bones so he licks at them til it falls out. Also, bully sticks will last 5-10 minutes which is good too, but they are expensive! Good luck!

Careful with the antlers though.  Google says that they can cause extreme diarrhea.

I don't think he gets enough off the antlers at a time for it to be an issue... but I'll keep an eye out for it! Thanks!

My brother gives them to his dogs and I don't think they've had a problem either.

  • I know you already got answers, but antlers are great-never gave my dogs diarrhea and they have pretty sensitive Tummies. Also-side note- they are so hard J ran it over with the grasshopper (mower) and it damaged the mower not the antlers.

Note to consider with the puzzles: Jobyn is not allowed unsupervised with the puzzle because he starts chewing on the plastic once he's got all the treats out. Definitely not chew friendly!!
