Thats some interesting programming

Did you hear that TLC had a show on last night called, "Man with 132-lb Scrotum"?

I am just hearing about it now and am annoyed my friend didn't text me right away when she started watching it, and also thankful she didn't tell me about it!

um eewww how is it possible to have a scrotum the size of a human?

Re: Thats some interesting programming

  • I'm just wondering how he let it get that big... I mean, I think I'd notice a growth on my balls before it hit 132lbs...

Note: I saw this advertised but I did not watch.
  • Um, wow. That's weird. Totally a guy thing to not have that checked out like 100 lbs ago. Lol

  • I watched. It was very sad and it appears that there are some mental health concerns, as well.

It got that big because no one in the state of Nevada would operate on it. He had state funding and couldn't go elsewhere to get care.

Basically he was poor, so he got screwed.

  • Can you tell me what happened after the surgery? I stopped getting updates and am actually really curious about it. I felt sad that the other doctors said they would go straight to castration. (At least that is what I was told.) @lilliesandvino
  • Ugh. Now I feel bad.

They were able to save the vital bits. He was able to regain some semblance of a normal life. (At least that's how the program ended.)

That's good, at least. I may check out the program if it re-airs.
  • That's insane. I am both amazed and feel horrible for that poor man. His balls weighed more than I do!! I might have seriously considered castration long before the 100-lb mark, but that's coming from someone who's never had those bits, so who really knows what anyone would bear.

  • Oh I didn't realize it was a sad story like that!
  • I think telling a man castration is his only option is surely going to deter him from going through with treatment. Also, I don't believe it grew overnight to that size so, he had time to get used to it.

    3 lbs/month. Crazy.

  • OMG, my husband made me watch this last night.  The guy has been on Howard Stern's show a lot apparently so he wanted to see it.

I died just about every time he called it his "testicle sac".  I kept saying it to my husband the rest of the night.

He ignored the original injury when it first happened.  He let it go for a very long time until it got incredibly large, at which point no one would operate on it.

  • Ahh the "testicle sack". I was dying. I'm trying to work that into my everyday vernacular.

This is probably my favorite new term for balls!

What was the original injury and why would it cause that to happen?
  • All of the articles about him say it was a "household mishap".  But the way he described it on the Stern show was that he was already very overweight and he somehow pinched the testicle under his leg.  The next morning it was the size of a grapefruit.  It just kept swelling and wouldn't stop.

    OMG.
  • I'm in healthcare, and I can tell you that I've seen some pretty bad situations in that area - but over 100lbs is insane!!!

The scrotum is often the first thing to swell in the event of immobilization, hip injuries, pelvic fractures...I've seen 10-20lbs before and it looked incredibly painful at that point.

oy, that's really shitty. Poor guy.

  • So how did this guy get around?  I'm picturing a dude dragging a giant ballsack on the ground.  Throw the shit in a wagon and cart it around???

  • He wore a hoodie upside down as pants and cinched the good together to cover everything.

He lifted it with towels and blankets. Even rolling over for this man was a struggle. He was mostly non-ambulatory. I honestly don't know how he continued to live.
