DIY anniversary gift...need input from married couples!
Hey all, first let me start by saying I am ENTIRELY new to this 'discussion' thing. I don't even know if I'm posting in the correct discussion. Ahhhhhh! My apologies if I'm way off.
Here goes, I'm a huge DIY person and I have a friend celebrating a first anniversary. This poor girl has received so many negative comments about her decision to marry. She had NO help from her SEVEN bridesmaids and lack of support from friends and co-workers. Her and her now husband moved in together after 3 months, got engaged a year after they met then married a year after they were engaged, they are entering their first year of marriage. Everyone loves her and everyone loves him...this issue is everyone thought it was "too soon". She is 26 now and he is 29. Personally, I think they did everything right. They even fight fantastically (always come to a compromise or solution after). But of course, only they know their relationship. They are both VERY much into writing, quotes, music, poems and appreciate art. For their 1 year, I wanted to make a "book" of all things marriage.
For example: short marriage wisdom. Marriage quotes. Things you've learned while you we're married. How would you describe marriage? Song lyrics. Maybe advice from a divorcee that learned 'too late'. Keeping the 'intimacy'....don't be shy!!!
Anything like that. I want these two to laugh and cry, especially since they didn't have that opportunity at their wedding.
Please, if I may ask also....include how long you have been married for.
This would be a HUGE help considering I don't have anyone to ask myself. Everyone in my family, including my husbands family have been divorced

Thank you all in advanced. I'm so excited!

And yes, none of us have hit 1 year yet so we may not be your best source.
