I am both excited and terrified. We are redoing our kitchen, finishing our attic space and adding a 2 story addition. I am super excited to have the space and to add value to the property, but I went through a kitchen remodel with my parents while I was in high school and it was terrible!! Horrible mess, tons of anxiety, continuous take out food and the like. Oh, and we're getting married in October. We have 2 cats and a dog, who have to be separated (she's not aggressive, just really excitable and our older cats don't like it). So, our house is already going to be like a clown car during the remodel. We're at the beginning of the design process but I want to be prepared. Any suggestions to get through it? Easy to make meals, slow cooker recipes you really enjoyed, tips at keeping the construction dust at bay, working with contractors, something you did that saved money and really anything you learned during your remodel.
I'd really appreciate your thoughts!
Re: Kitchen+Attic addition
Write stuff down. Have a contract. Don't be afraid to ask questions before and during the remodel.
I wish I would have thought to take pictures from the same spot when building a house. Have lots of pics of everything, but they're all from different angles. Wish I would have thought to take a pic every day from the same vantage point so you could easily see the changes when looking back.
