Thoughts about The Host? (ns)

I know I am way behind but I am thinking about picking this up soon. Did you read it, do you suggest it? No spoilers- what did you like or didn't like?

I liked it eventually, but for me it took a very long time for it to get going.  It felt like it spun its wheels for the first 1/3 of the book.

I read it immediately. It was worth the read, I think, but it wasn't great.  Skip the movie though.

I liked it. Didn't love it but liked it. It takes awhile to pick up though.

I really enjoyed it, but I thought it was about 25% overwritten. I just skimmed the repetitive sections.

I liked it, I picked it up while I was Twilight obsessed and really enjoyed how different it was. Now that I'm past my Twilight phase, I still like this one more.

Dad liked it. He said it was interesting enough in the beginning that he didn't put it down.
(He'll read anything though, including the back of cereal boxes. LOL) He says it was better than reading a cereal box.

I haven't read it, so I called him to get a book report.

After the first 100 pages or so, I really got into it.  I enjoyed it!

I liked it! It's been several years, so I can't remember many details about why I liked it, just that I read it quickly and enjoyed the characters.

The movie wasn't great though. I only watched the first half hour.

I read this and liked it a lot more then Twilight (I didnt like the last book in Twilight and some of the story line through the series). On a road trip DH, my brother and SIL listened to the Host, and listening to it made me realize its about 10 chapters longer then it needs to be. If you can find the abridged version I would go with that maybe. I liked the movie more then the book- which is really rare for me, I hardly ever like the movie more then the book. There are just some parts where it kind of drags on, I know she was trying to make a point but it just got a little boring.

I remember thinking it was just ok.  It took awhile to really get into it.  Once I did, I wanted to know what was going to happen, but I didn't think it was that great.

Late to the party, but I liked it! It was slow for the first 100 pages or so, but I really enjoyed it after that.

He's an avid reader and I have better access to books than he does, so once I finish books I tend to pass them on to him. He loves Outlander as well. :-D I sometimes borrow books from my friend that reads more sci-fi/ fantasy than I do so that he stays up to date in those genres as well.

I had picked up The Host from a friend's mom that was moving and not keeping any of her books. I didn't really want to read it, so I passed it on to my dad.

Dad has been known to pick up my "trashy romance" novels and read then when he's bored. I gave him The Dark Highlander (forgot the author). He tried to start reading it at chapter 21 (where I was) and I told him he had to wait until I finished and then he could read it. The story wouldn't make sense other wise. Shortly after he started reading it, he was begging me to spoil the plot for him! I just laughed at him and told him to keep reading. LOL
