XP NGPR: Shady vet office...what would you do?
I posted this on the Pets board, but I think it's dead. I lurk here a lot and think you ladies give great advice!
Long story short: my dog was having petit mal seizures so I took her to my vet. They did blood work, claimed it came back abnormal for liver functioning and told me they'd need to run a bunch of tests. I said fine. $400. That was also fine with me. The next day when the rest of her test results came back in, they said in order to diagnose her liver disease they would need to do ultrasound, xray, biopsy for $850. This is where I started to feel suspicious. I brought my dog to 2 different vets, along with the medical records and lab results from my other vet. They each did their own blood work and reviewed the results from my old vet. They both told me there was absolutely NO reason to suspect something was wrong with her liver, her results were completely normal and that the first vet was probably just trying to get our money. Clearly I'm not going back to this vet anymore, but it has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I've already left a few reviews online to warn others of this, but it's more than that. I was petrified that my dog was dying when her lab results were actually normal. I also paid $200 for additional lab work that was NOT needed. Do you think I should try to dispute the charge on my credit card? Anything else I could do here? I'm just so angry right now.
Excited for our first baby!

I'd contact the original vet office and explain what you'd heard from the others. Ask for your money back. If they won't do it, I'd share the story on review pages (be factual, not emotional), and if you REALLY feel burned, you can submit it to the Better Business Bureau.
That sucks though, and I'm sorry you had to deal with it.
