Afternoon Toddler Preschools?

I am searching for a toddler preschool for Madeline.  She is 2.5.  All of the classes I have found start at 9 am.  M is not a early riser and since our options in Sq Hill are limited, I was looking at schools in the surrounding towns which with rush hour travel will stink.  I am willing to travel to take her to the right preschool but it would help to find one with a mid morning or afternoon class. We will be moving eventually to the North Hills/Franklin Park area.  I figured at this point, we will need to wait until next year to get an opening.  Help!

Re: Afternoon Toddler Preschools?

  • I believe Elfinwild Preschool in Shaler has an afternoon program.

  • I would suspect they are less common just because that after lunch is a typical nap time for that age group.  I know EJ's daycare naps between 12:30ish until after 2. Most of the activity in the day is early.
  • Ditto Amanda.

  • My sisters both went to afternoon preschool but they were both 3-4 programs. Most younger programs are morning because like Amanda said, afternoons run into naptime.

    One went to Ingomar Church

The other went to Wexford Christian Preschool mainly because my mom used the drop in daycare associated with the church.

  • My church has an afternoon program for 3 year olds.  (You have to be 3 by Sept. 1)  It is rarely full (the AM always fills!) because of the nap issue mentioned above.  It is about 7-10 minutes from the Cranberry/Mars exit of 79.  I believe it goes from 12:30 or 1:00pm until around 3:30pm.   It won't help you for this year, but for next it may be an option, especially if you're coming up this way.  They begin registering in December!
