Zombie Fans

I just finished reading EX Heroes by Peter Cline, it was excellent, it's a mix of zombies and super heroes with a couple good twists so it wasn't like the typical zombies.  It's a series.  I highly recommend it to any of the zombie lovers out there.

  • This sounds like fun. Are the zombie parts really gruesome? I have only read one zombie book and it wasn't too intense with the gross zombieness.

  • What other zombie books have you read? I will add this series to my TBR  :D
I love a good zombie book!

  • It's not too gruesome but I like the gore so I might not be the best resource.

I have both read the book and seen the movie. The movie is NOTHING like the book. The movie is worth seeing, just nothing like the book at all. Truth be told, I am actually not into zombie stories normally, but the book World War Z is really more about society breaking down then the actual zombies, if that makes sense. It could have been any disaster/pandemic/etc.

SaphireCounselor that is really interesting. I am looking forward to reading the book and watching the movie to see the difference!

Both are definitely worth your time. I actually told DH I would not see the movie because I am not into Zombies. He ended up seeing it with a friend, and had the book lying around the house. I didn't have anything else to read one afternoon and picked it up. I gave it back to him a week later only after I had finished it. It was that good.

I actually hated this book but really liked the movie!

The book felt really disjointed, IMO.

I can totally see how the book isn't for everyone. I personally loved the style, but I also favor non-fiction/essay collection over narrative novels. I know I'm in the minority there.

I don't think I've ever read an essay collection. ::ducks:: You're right, the book was more in a short story format than a traditional novel. It was just nothing like I was expecting.

I totally agree with this. It took me completely by suprise too. I love essay collections, but I'm a non-fiction nerd so I completely understand why the format isn't for everyone. It is a very disjointed kind of writing. I think the thing I appreciated about the way WWZ was written was that it was actually a parody of a similar type of book a historian did with folks after WW II. That's what my Dh told me anyway.
