Toddler Socialization Activities with Infant Sibling?

Hello,  I am the mom of a 2 year old with my second child coming this November.  I will be taking a one-year maternity leave and taking my toddler out of daycare (which I surprisingly feel bad about because she enjoys it so much).  I would like to continue to provide her with group activities for socialization, but I will also have to take my infant along.  I see that classes like Gymboree require only one child at a time, unless both children are in the same age group.  I live in Rockland -- does anyone have any suggestions of where I could take them?  Thanks!

  • I love our library programs which have children of varying ages and are free. I'd look into those. Mine has three programs a week for kiddos- two story times and one music program. Also you could look into music together if there's one in your area.

  • Um, wanna be my friend lol. I have a 3.5 y/o and a 3 week old and having the same problem. I have him in preschool MWF for 3 hours and plan to walk the lake on those days. We go to Valley Cottage library to pretend n play and several other libraries have story time that infants can go to as well. We do playdates with friends, go to the mall, Bounce toddler time, playgrounds and still too much sitting home,
  • Thanks to both of you!  Kendra, congrats on your new baby!!  I hope the transition from one to two has been smooth for you.  We should definitely be friends -- I live in New City, too, and I've followed your recs on so many things from our newborn photographer to my mani/pedi place.  :)

  • Wow, Jezzabella, you're due any day now!  Good luck!  My e-mail address is tessajd@juno.com.  Let's stay in touch!
  • Tess, if you have Facebook, look up Rockland Mommies. Lots of things listed to do and great advice from other moms.

Jess, im planning on doing RunBabyRun at Congers Lake on the days that Drew is in Preschool if you want to join. It's an exercise stroller class MWF from 930-1030 only $6 per class.
  • Kendra, that sounds good! Keep me posted on that. I prob won't be cleared til early-mid October.

  • We did MyGym before and after my 3nd was born (until she started walking). She would sleep in carseat and I would attend to J. When she started sitting up and being up more she would sit on floor with us and the gym teacher would work with J too. And during swing time bring
