My Dh and I were having this discussion last night...what is your favorite movie based on a book?

Re: Book to movie
The Hobbit was great too...can't wait for movie 2 and 3 on that one.

The Hobbt was actually my favorite book of them all. It certainly isn't as fantastic or epic as the rest, but it has it's own sweet story that I really related to. That said, I am not sure they needed to break it into 3 movies.

I didn't read the sequel. A few NBCers did and their reviews are the reason I couldn't pick it up.
I forgot Interview with the Vampire. Definitely that one.

I actually read Sarah's Key cover to cover when I was on a long flight. I literally couldn't put the book down!
Um, Harry Potter....hello people!

I thought the movie for P.S. I love you, was SO much better than the book, and I also loved The Time Traveler's Wife. Warm Bodies was a pretty good adaptation of the book, but I loved the book more. Others I loved are Joy Luck Club, Stardust,The Help, The Namesake, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and totally not a movie, but a mini-series, The BBC Neverwhere series was excellent in that awesome, British low-budget sort of way.
ETA: After going through my GR, I also have to add The Virgin Suicides, and Jesus' Son. Loved both books, and the movies were also excellent.

The Shawshank Redemption
and
The Help
Loved these two movies more than the books.
@caseyandlizzie I just died a little inside. Can I ask if you read the book before or after seeing the movie? I loved this book so much and hated the movie enough that I couldn't even sit through it just to stare at Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
