  • Shoulder.  I also have a wristlet wallet so I just grab that when I go to the mall and don't have to carry a purse and shopping bags.

I'm actually on the hunt for a new one for Italy. I want something that looks fashionable and expensive but without breaking the bank. So far, all I've found is cheap faux leather that would make any Italian cringe LOL. I like this one...but not the price tag, although I do have a 40% off coupon...hmmm: http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=85207&vid=1&pid=556681012

    Suggestions are welcome!

Currently I use my Dooney & Bourke barrel bag. It's the perfect size for me, not too small, not too big. The size of the straps is perfect that I can hand carry it or put it over my shoulder. LOVE IT.

  • Shoulder for sure.  I have giant purse and DH called it "the pit."  He's convinced everything goes there to die.

@mana8503 Yes fitting the Kindle is a must!

  • I use a cross body or a wristlet in the summer time. I dont go out a lot during the school year so I mostly just use my backpack.

  • I use a shoulder bag but wear it at the elbow. I can't wear it comfortably while carrying it on my shoulder without it falling off. My purse is big enough my cat trys to climb in. He is looking for hair ties but he still sticks his whole head and sometimes body in the bag looking.

  • I've been a big fan of the cross-body style for the past year and a half. If I'm out walking around somewhere, I hate holding onto my purse when it's on my shoulder, or holding my forearm up if it's on my elbow. I can't hold one in my hands, it drives me nuts!! My MIL bought me a new cross-body over the summer that fits my kindle, sunglasses case, and wallet!! I love it and I love being hands free!

  • I carry what H calls my suitcase. It has to be able to hold a book, my iPad, a Nalgene bottle and some snacks.

  • Diaper bag! LOL with 2 young kids requiring a diaper bag I don't have an extra arm or the room for another bag. I couldn't imagine fumbling all of that even with a double stroller.
  • Nic, I love that BR bag in every color!  I say go for it, especially with 40% off!!  I may get myself one this weekend :)

I carry either a shoulder bag or a small satchel, depending on my mood.  I have an equal amount of both.

The only main requirement of a bag for myself is leather.  I hate fabric bags, I feel like the get dirty easily.  I'm also not a fan of faux leather, I feel like they fall apart easily.  Most of my bags are Coach and Kate Spade, they seem to last the best, although my favorite (don't tell the others) it a Michael Kors luggage colored medium satchel.  It's just such a beauty!
  • @sjs1013 I'm a sucker for ANYTHING Michael Kors!!  Your bag sounds gorg

I think I am going to go for it...the coupon expires on Monday and DH and I are planning on going to the outlets over the weekend. If I don't find anything there, then that bag (at 40% off LOL) is mine!

I agree with you on the leather thing!! Purses are just about the only thing I spoil myself with. It hasn't happened as much lately! Ever since I got into buying designer purses (mostly Coach), I can't do the cheap faux leather. I can do the durable coach fabric sometimes, but haven't for a few years. My MIL got me my newest purse as a congratulations on the job gift. It's a Michael Kors and I loooooove it! So buttery soft. I haven't owned a Kate Spade, but this past spring I found one I really wanted!
