  • I am thankful for...

...my job. There have been layoffs and I survived the cut (something tells me it has to do with being KO lol)

...DH. He is consistently my level head (especially when it comes to my work) and my biggest cheerleader. He keeps telling me that no matter what happens with work, not to worry and we will figure it out. I love him.

...coffee. My brain was racing this morning at 5am and I never went back to sleep.

...that my A/S is tomorrow! I don't think I've ever been this impatient in my life. My doctor also told me that they will be turning on the 3d tomorrow to look at the face (but not to freak out since baby is really skinny and the eyes are still fused shut - creepy)! I'm excited to put an identity to this little blessing :)

For funsies, what the over-under on boy v. girl based on OWTs? You've seen my bump, I'm craving sweets, was nauseous but not sick first tri.

  • This week I am thankful...

That my mother in law is coming over to watch Ava Nichol while I go get my blood drawn! She has only watched her a handful of times but they have a good relationship.

That my mom will be home tonight. I have missed her so much and can't wait to see her tomorrow!

That my baby girl can now be left in her room awake and will eventually go to sleep. We had a bad night last night but at least I was able to get some sleep by leaving before she was fully asleep and not running in for every cry.

  • @Penn - The only OWT that said girl for me was craving sweets. All the rest said boy (I was carrying low, and had little to no m/s). I think you're having a girl. ;)

I can't really tell how I'm carrying. I feel like I'm directly in the middle haha

  • This week I am thankful for:

-My mom. On her day off she invites us over for dinner and it's really nice spending all that time with her before LO arrives. She also said she will watch my pup for me the first few weeks after giving birth. I love her so much!!!

-DH. He has been so sweet and doesn't say anything when I'm constantly complaining about everything that hurts and he might want to slap me when I get up every night at 3am to go pee but he keeps his cool. Lol.
  • I'm especially thankful for DH this week.  We lost one of our cats on Tuesday (who I had for over nine years, pre-DH), very unexpectedly, and he has been wonderful to me through the process, taking care of everything and letting me grieve.  I don't know what I would have done without him.

On a MUCH lighter note, I'm also thankful for Chic-fil-A.  I realized today that I hadn't eaten any decent protein in a few days, and it really hit the spot for lunch.  (And I'm sure will also be wonderful for my weigh-in this afternoon at an OB appointment, lol.)

Out of curiosity, why are you having her watch the dog?  I felt it was really important for Chloe to be around right away.  She needed to learn that Parker is now above her in our "pack" and that his needs come before hers.  Also, she got used to the newbie noises that he made and crying that he did.  DH did all of her care - feeding, taking her out, etc.  I had a c/s, so he did most things anyway, but I didn't feel it was necessary for my mom to take Chloe for a few weeks.  She did, however, keep Chloe at her house since we were in the hospital for 4 days.  We dropped her off the night before and they brought her back the morning we got discharged.

Yep.  All of this.  We wanted to get them introduced right away so our dog would learn that B was above him in pack hierarchy.  Plus, he needed to get used to the baby sounds just like we did

  • @lynn0514 I am sorry about your cat but glad your DH has been so supportive.

@pennstated912 It is so hard this early to tell if you are carrying high or low. I was team green, carried low, craved sweets and had bad m/s and I had a girl. I can't wait for your announcement! :)

@bridget0117 We had our dog at home whenwe brought DD home. He was there to greet us and he got to see the baby come into the home. I think it might have been confusing for him if we had him leave with no baby and come back a couple weeks later to a baby. Obviously this is a decision for you and your family but I think transitioning animals smoothly when bringing a baby home is very important.

  • in regard to dogs:

We also had our dog home when we brought baby home. it was an adjustment for all of us (she was so tired from the baby waking us all up - she would just pass out).

but she is a guard dog (and not an Alpha at all). now she guards the baby. it is very cute. if the baby cries, she gets up and goes to the baby. she is a sweet dog.

luckily the cat just stays away from the baby.

I would want the dog there if it were me.

    my thankful items:

I am thankful M is here and healthy.

I am thankful that I am able to BF him.

I am thankful he slept for a little bit so I could make AND eat my lunch!

  • My Mom - she's coming over Saturday to go to Carter's and Motherhood with me. She comes over once a week just to see us. She's also taking me with her and my grandma to Jersey to see some family and to go shopping next weekend.

DH - he's just wonderful, I've been a mess emotionally this week and he's dealt with it so well. He usually can't stand it when I'm upset over stupid things.

  • I am thankful that I have not barfed yet despite my mild nausea.

I'm also thankful that DS slept through the night last night. It was a nice break

    ~Unknown~

    Lesson learned!!

  • It's not that I don't want her home it's just that we live in apartments and on the 2nd floor and she's a very strong dog who pulls me sometimes. I'm scared that I might get hurt while taking her out to use the bathroom. DH will definitely help with her while he's at home but DH drives a truck and he takes care of all of our business stuff and won't be home all the time to help me with her. (I'm scared of going into labor and DH won't be able to get to the hospital right away because like I said he drives a truck and cant just leave the truck. I don't know if that makes sense.)

I also wasn't saying she will be staying with my mom for a few weeks I said she offered herself in case I needed that help. But I was thinking on buying that fake grass thing and putting it in my balcony that way I won't have to be scared of getting hurt to take her out all the way downstairs. If we lived in a house I wouldn't care at all about her though.

She will be taking care of her while we are at the hospital though.
  • @Cinderin, my dog is also the same way. She's a guard dog and it'll just be an adjustment for her but that is not the reason why I don't want her home the first few weeks. I'm just scared of taking her out to the bathroom.
  • My bad, I guess I did put that she will watch my pup but I meant she offered to watch my pup. Sorry :(
  • @bridget0117 that makes sense. If DH won't be there all the time and you have the issues with taking her out to potty. Maybe if your mom does watch her for that long she could still bring her over when you guys come home and maybe some visits to help her with the transition.

Yeah I don't want her gone that long either. I'll miss her way to much, she's my baby. She's the one that keeps me company and is my BFF. I think that I will just buy that grass thing and if it doesn't work out I'll just have her help me a few days not for weeks.
  • I'm thankful tomorrow's Friday.

I'm thankful it is a long weekend and I can rest some.

@bridget0117 have you considered getting an Easy Walk harness? Our dog is 100lbs easy and that is how I am able to take her out without DH home. I wrap or wear P and we are off. With that you should be able to get your dog to walk beside you down the stairs. And he can't pull once you are outside. It really helps. :)

We tried it. It didn't help at all. I just bought her a choke chain (I hate how that sounds) and it's helped a little. She tries to pull me and I have to be rough with her but she still pulls me sometimes.

How did it not work? They can't pull from that angle. What about the Gentle Leader, the one that goes around her muzzle? Chloe hates that one. We have a choke chain too, that DH uses for her and I use it only if I'm taking her out to pee real quick.

What kind of dog do you have?

  • I honestly don't know how it did not work. I really wish it would have worked. I haven't tried the one that goes around her muzzle maybe that one is the next one I'll try.

I have a Chinese shar-pei. She isn't that big either, she weighs around 50lbs.

we got our Shar-pei when she was 4, so she was pretty "set in her ways". but my BFF who used to breed and show Shar-pei said that they are so strong and their necks are so strong/thick that it can be hard to them to feel the collar when you pull on it. she advised against a harness because she said it was even harder for them to feel it.

  • My sister bred shar peis for years and the only thing that worked for her was strict obedience training. She's had over 7 dogs in the past 10 years.

She kept the dogs that people wouldn't take because of imperfections that weren't "good" for showing. She's not a hoarder I swear!
