Hi. I am seeking different perspectives on my future plans. I am currently enrolled in the last 2 classes I need to complete my AAS in Psychology at CCC. Next year I will have to switch to a four year school to continue with my pursuit of a Masters so that I may become a Middle School Guidance counselor.
My quandary is the fact that I work full time and if I continue to go to school part time it will take me at least 8 years. I am currently about to turn 29 and my H and I would like to start a family in the near future. I don't want to be the parent that doesn't have time for their child. And I don't think we should wait 8 years to start a family b/c of the risk for complications.
The latest brain storm I had was to wait until Hubby gets a job (currently laid off) and then transition into an entry level position part time somewhere so I can focus all my brain power to my education and go full time in the Spring. The finances really worry me but my car will be paid off soon ( by Jan) so that is a positive. I am not sure what the FASFA will do for me and I am looking to go to McDaniel b/c they are the only place nearby that offers the Masters program. As far as I know, I can't look into scholarships until I fill out the FASFA and that goes off of my tax documents. They will show that I received a raise this year and that won't help in this instance.
Has anyone on here been in this situation? What worked for you?
We currently have an apartment and living with family to save money is off the table. My little sisters stay with us when they are on brake from McDaniel.
We were looking at buying a house but with the lay off, have put it on the back burner sadly.
Please stay positive
