Relocating to the twin cities

My husband, son, and I are relocating to the twin cities. He will be working at General Mills as well as downtown minneapolis and I work from my home. We were looking for affordable newer construction and was wondering if anyone had feedback on the Brooklyn Park area? I know it's a large suburb and that there are probably some not so great areas but curious if there are any nice areas of this larger suburb. It seems like there is a fair amount of larger, newer homes. Thanks in advance!

I have several friends that live north of 610 and they like the area. There is an area off Oxbow and Noble on Noble Circle? that is a really nice neighborhood.

Maple Grove & Osseo are worth checking out too :-)

My brother works for General Mills and his wife Target Corporate in downtown. She rides the bus into Minneapolis and loves it...they live in Maple Grove.  Definitely north of 610 if you live in Brooklyn Park!  Champlin is great too. Lots of newer developments up in the Coon Rapids/Andover area and there's a great light rail into Minneapolis, but that may be an ugly commute if he has business hours (I commute 30 min from CR but during off hours so I don't mind).

That's a really nice area, I have several friends who live there. The only warning I have may not even apply, but the public transit in the area (specifically the one you're in, not MSP as a whole, in the cities is different) is not very good.

We're in BP.  North of 610 is really nice, but even north of 85th is nice  

If you're thinking about bussing at all, check metrotransit.com for routes. There are express bus options from a few Park & Ride locations in the NW metro.
