I've been texting back and forth all day with my dad about the situation in Syria. What are your thoughts? Feel free to add comments as text, but please lets not argue!

I think we should stay out of it, we have enough issues going on within our own country and we need to focus on us. I understand that Assad is a horrible person for doing what he is accused of doing and I'm not happy that so many people died without reason. I really fear that getting involved will lead to more attacks against the United States in the form of terrorism and that it could even lead to a long conflict (despite the President saying it isn't going to).

If we get involved, we may help people, but I think well end up doing more harm than good. I know Russia doesn't want us there, and we don't need to be at war with them. It'd just be nice for once to not be at war with another country.

I think the UN needs to get its act together and make a move as the UN.  They are committing genocide against their own people.  Maybe it's because I'm Jewish, but it feels a little to reminiscent of the Holocaust, or at least the beginning of it, to me.  The world stood by and let people die.  I understand the world is different now than it was then, but this still shouldn't be allowed to happen and it makes me sick to my stomach when other countries throw their hands up and say "this isn't my problem."  We have the UN for a reason.  It needs to get its act together or disband.

I don't think we should go in alone.  If the the UN and our allies are staying out of it there's a reason for it, and we should stay out of it, too.  I don't like the idea of not having support, especially when things get messy.  Unfortunately, I think we're going to strike regardless of what anyone else thinks...
