Hey ladies!  It's been deader than dead.  Now that summer is unofficially over and school is back in session, hopefully things around here will pick up,  How is everyone?  Anything new and/or exciting to share?

We've got the kid's 2nd birthday coming up next month.  I've got to get his party invitations out, pretty much this weekend.  That leaves me with old school, hand written invites lol.  No Pinterest extravaganza for me.  Other than that all is quiet over here.  We're still unsuccessful on the house hunt but plan to try to get more aggressive if we can.  Not much in the 'burbs fitting our preferred criteria and price range at the moment.

Re: check in here!

  • Hey!  Nothing too exciting to share over here.  Waiting for this kid to come out. My sciatica is out of control and having a 28lb toddler that constantly wants to be picked up is killing me.  On a positive note, this kid has been hanging out low the entire pregnancy that I have virtually no heartburn this time!  Last time, I was swigging maalox out of the bottle it was so bad.

I can't believe V will be 2!  I feel like he's so much older than J but they are only about 2 months apart.  Don't feel bad about not making a big deal about the party.  We did it for J's 1st bday and this time it's going to just be a small gathering at our house, probably with handwritten invites too!

  • Today is the first day in a looooong time where I have woken up and felt like things are looking up.  Just got child support finally hammered out yesterday.  Singed sealed and delivered to the courts.  Such a HUGE weight off my shoulders.

Attempting to date and see what's out there.  Kind of at a stall in my weight loss for a while but I think that's due to an overwhelming amount of stress lately and emotional eating.  Need to get back on the wagon and keep up all this hard work I've done this year.

Little man amazes me everyday with the new things he's learning.  He's really turning into a little gentleman with such a sweet and loveable side.

  • Such a good idea, I love seeing what is going on with everyone. We've settled in. B started school today, thank GOD! J started school last week. His crowning achievement, he didn't scare off anyone and someone added one of his classes. In other secret school news, I have gone back to school. This deserves a whole other thread because I have questions, but I don't have time now. Perhaps a phd in the future....... My birthday was this week and we are celebrating next month by going to see They Might Be Giants in DC. I am over the moon excited. Feels like high school and college again.

  • Hey all!  Things are kinda quiet over here these past couple of days, but about to get crazy!  Because of that, I let DD stay in pajamas all day today (she's still in them)- she'll just get dressed when it's time to go to soccer.  After soccer starts tonight, library storytime begins Monday, DD starts PRESCHOOL on Tuesday, and swim lessons and music start soon too.  It's going to be insane.

We have DS's 1st birthday party on Sunday...I'm excited but nervous.  Not sure why nervous, but I guess I just want everyone to have fun and minimalize drama (and there is always drama with DH's family).

House hunt is blah.  I hate this whole process.  Our house hasn't sold- a few people have said they want to make offers, but can't get pre-approval on any sort of mortgage, and one family who likes it has to sell theirs first...so we're kinda stuck.  Thinking of lowering the price a little, but even that is frustrating- stupid us for buying at the height of everything.  I knew we wouldn't necessarily make money, but certainly we can't afford to lose a ton either...so who knows, we may stay put if it comes to that for the time being.

  • Everyone gets to have their baby but me!!! :((

So, yeah. I'm still waiting for this kid to get the-f out of my body. Clocks ticking buddy. I have a NST tomorrow and plan to try caster oil on Saturday if he's still a hold-out. Otherwise I'll be admitted Sunday night for Cervidil with an induction Monday morning if the Cervidil doesn't kick start my labor. He's low but not engaged and I'm not really progressing at all so it's getting to be just a little frustrating...

Aaaaand that's my check in! Please feel free to send any labor dust you've got floating around my way!

  • I've been totally MIA and hopefully with the what seems to be easy new format that will change!

This summer flew by. I started a new job last month. The commute is much easier now on my new little family- appx 45 minutes round trip versus 3 hours round trip. I'm in the same field but with a lot more responsibility which is exciting. I'm enjoying learning new things each day.

Since we're parents of the year, we are finally working on completing the nursery. I hope to PIP soon. PSA we used Ikea of South Philly's delivery and assembly service for the furniture and were extremely pleased. I was skeptical based on online reviews, but we were very happy.

Little Guy will be 7 months next week. He's growing up so fast! It is amazing watching him accomplish and discover new things. He recently started food and seems to like everything except green beans. I am totally in love with him and with being a mom.

  • Jen and NQ I hope you both have smooth deliveries.... Jen how many weeks are you? I can't remember.

We just got back from Rehoboth which was great.  E hated the sand though so that was rough. We would pack everything and go down to the beach, torture him for a bit and then go back.  We only went two days (hoping he'd like it better the second day) but made it to the pool another day.  My plans for a bit of a tan went out the window.  Other than that I have the wedding with the world's worst BM this weekend.  I'm very excited for the wedding but dreading her BS.

I'm also fighting really bad baby fever.  Whenever we saw a newborn at the beach DH and I would look at each other and make those eyes.  I don't want to start TTC until next summer but it is going to be rough waiting. I'm horrified of the cost of two in full time day care and two hanging on me if they are both mommy's boys (I'm sure I'm only going to have boys) and even more so I'm scared I'll catch the multiple-maddness that is going on on this board! You are all saints as far as I'm concerned, I'm not sure I could keep my sanity with twins!

Anyway that's it.  I'm also trying to get back into running (just went for two miles but had to walk a bit because I kept tripping in the dark haha) and trying to lose weight but it still won't budge. We are going on 15 months of BF'ing so I'm proud of that but I'm also pretty sure that is why this weight won't leave my body.  Not sure when we are going to wean though. that's up to the little guy

  • Not a ton going on with me. I came back to work this week after 5 glorious months! I only sobbed a few times, so I consider it a win. It helps knowing the boys are at home with my sister, who totally adores and loves them to pieces. Starting next week I'll be working from home twice a week so that'll definitely help.

Other than that, we're just chillin. Both boys are doing great. We're still waiting to hear when Colin's next catheter procedure will be. We have an appt on Tuesday. I hope we can keep waiting but I selfishly want it over with. Andrew is a happy little porker!

  • For those of you that don't see my ridiculous adventures on FB, here's my update:
    • still doing trail races with the hubby; we had a big race over Labor Day weekend and I ran 31 miles; he ran 45 miles
    • we celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary yesterday
    • been doing CrossFit for 2 months and I'm enjoying it thoroughly. We've been doing CF more often and scaling back our running mileage, but I have felt stronger during my races
    • I managed to grow a decent amount of food in my backyard this summer. I failed miserably at growing zucchini and watermelon; I am still getting ridiculous amounts of tomatoes
    • I really want a carrot cake cupcake right now :)
  • Still liking the Cross Fit @Erbur78? That's good to hear. I'm thinking I might finally give it a go this fall. Not much going on with me. Still don't have a finished kitchen, but at least we are on vacation next week so I won't have to think about it. We are approaching the 2 month mark since we ripped everything out, and that makes me wanna cry! Sorry if I sound like a broken record.

I've been debating on going to cross fit but right now money is tight :-( everyone I know that does them loves them and becomes totally addicted!!!

ETA- Jen didn't mean that to sound like you were wishing the baby would come early... just trying to look at the bright side! sorry if it came across that way!

  • To everyone that has endured a kitchen renovation--you get major props from me and extra credit if you did it yourself. We hired someone to do this back in 2006, and it was INCREDIBLY stressful.

As for the CrossFit questions @SJU1982 and @PhillyGal34: yes, it is more expensive than our previous YMCA membership, but each visit can be described as small group personal training (no more than 10-12 people per class). You are in and out within 1 hour. We also are going to CF more (5x - 6x week) than we ever went to the gym. I also appreciate that this is a community--there's camaraderie among everyone in the classes, people are friendly, all workouts are scaled to your ability. I do the exact same exercises as my football playing husband, but with smaller weight amounts. Every milestone is celebrated with the results of each workout. We had a guy who is my age (35) who set personal records in his dead lift amounts last week; the same week, we had our 65 year old (yes, sixty five) member get her first rope climb.
What I like about our location is that everyone wants you to succeed.  And yes, as with any type of physical activity/sport, you do find some people that become obsessed or too immersed.  I think why I like it so much is because I see similar attitudes between CFers and trail runners.  No one cares if you come in DFL, just as long as you tried hard and got to the finish line.

We didn't do it ourselves, and it is not something I want to live through again.  It was definitely stressful.  The picking of the tiles, cabinets, etc, not too bad, just the time frame.  But then again, if you have someone there everyday working 8 hr/day it would probably go MUCH faster.
  • I am doing well with nothing too new going on- well, except for this twin thing. We had our 12 NT scan last week and everything looked good. Good ole baby b wouldn’t cooperative and the tech basically assaulted my stomach for an hour attempting to get her/him to move into proper position; the tech was not very happy. But, we then met with the specialist after that and went over everything which was reassuring. Also, because of the type of twins we don’t need to return until our 20 week anatomy scan in about 5 weeks. I have been feeling pretty well and am definitely starting to pop.

    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Ava is doing very well and has been on a shopping trip craze lately. The crazy girl tried ordering 1900 dollars worth of items on my kindle including a Jesus book and a cold weather human hamster wheel which she apparently really wanted J She is definitely 3 going on 13 with the smarts and attitude to prove it and always keeps me on my toes!

We have also been looking at houses for some time now. Our plan is to rent out our townhouse when we find a new home. However, the inventory has been very low and due to us not selling our home was limited in our mortgage lending amount as it will be a second home which has also limited our search some. The good news is we don’t have to move and want to make sure we find something we like but also one that will not break the bank especially with two more kids on the way.

Glad everyone including babies and children are doing well!!

  • I am still obsessed with Ava and that hamster wheel.  I need to be on her Christmas list.

@Matthew24 It must seriously be a baby B thing! Every ultrasound would take forever because Colin NEVER was in proper position.

Are they identical or fraternal? And are you finding out?

  • All of the babies are big now. What happened?

I am in my FINAL YEAR of graduate school!  Whee!! Of course, Social Work requires a 22.5hr/week internship on top of a class.  I'm fortunate that I'm able to do it where I work.  Unfortunately, that means I'm trapped in this building from 8a-9:30p 4 days/week.  I love my supervisor, and I think the placement will be interesting, but maaan, am I ready to be finished.

I'm having surgery next Friday.  I have a deviated septum and blocked sinuses, so I'm getting all that fixed.  I'll be out of work for a week, but I look forward to knowing what it's like to breathe out of my nose and not have sinus pain.

H started a new job in June and is much much happier.  The kitties are good. We started looking for a house, but are very restricted on location, so right now just waiting for what's coming on the market.  Who knows.

And I love snuggling with all the babies, but none for me right now.  No time.  Maybe next May after graduation.

  • My posts seem to ebb and flow and I guess Im in an ebb stage. Still, I am so glad to see all the healthy and happy Philly babies added to the mix and even more to come. Congrats to all the new parents and soon-to-be new parents. Luckily my friends IRL are also spawning lots of cute newborns which satisfies my temporary fancy for another child.

M is sassy and hilarious and is becoming less beastly as she gets closer to 4 years old.  Arguing the merits of a human hamster wheel sounds exactly like something she'd do. I love being able to have "real" conversations with her and engage in more exciting activities than pretending to love the fake omelet she made for me in her childsized kitchen.

A is still an easy and happy baby. She is starting to walk more steadily while holding onto things. She can really cruise if you let her push the toy shopping cart. I just started plans for her first birthday party so Ill be sharing tissues with Amberbutt as I cry at how fast she is growing up.

DH is currently amidst his second interview for a job he REALLY wants and I may or may not be more nervous than he is.

Yes, that baby b has given me a run for my money!! They think they are fraternal as it appeared I ovulated twice and they are di/di but I guess only time will tell. And yes, we are finding out in mid- October. My initial gut feeling was boy/ girl but now I feel girl/ girl. I need at least one girl because we saved everything from Ava-fingers crossed. Yours are fraternal right or did I just make that up?

They each have their own placenta, right? Mine are definitely fraternal because we did IVF and they implanted two embryos. I swore up and down we were having one of each and was legit shocked when both turned out to be boys, although I'm super glad they were the same sex. A friend of mine has a girl and then had di/di twin girls. If you end up in the same boat and ever want to talk to someone in the exact same situation, I'm sure she'd share her email address.I believe her daughter is just a little bit older than yours. I can't wait to hear what you're having!!

  • All of the babies are growing up!  ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

My baby is now a one-year-old, so there's that.  She's babbling like crazy, even has a few real words.  She's also walking with help and will stand on her own for a few seconds.  Boy, she is a fast crawler and she cruises well, too.  She has a lot of spunk, which can make it challenging to be around her all day long, haha.  She loves to eat and drink milk.  I officially weaned last week - I feel so proud to have been able to BF for a year, and yet so freed that I'm done.

As for me, I am not working at the moment.  You may recall that I resigned from my teaching job because I got royally screwed in my contract.  I've applied to what seems like hundreds of jobs, had a few interviews, even was in the top two finalists for my dream job and was unfortunately passed over.  I'm still looking and applying like crazy.  So, here I am, as a SAHM. Not for me, but I am managing by putting DD in daycare on Wednesdays to get a break and get some things done around the house, run errands, meet working friends for lunch, mani/pedis, etc.  DH has been really supportive of me having that day to enjoy and recharge, and thankfully it works with our budget.

DH and I will be celebrating our five-year anniversary this October and I cannot believe it.
