QOTD 9/5

Are you a "baby" about anything?  For instance, I am a big baby when it comes to the dentist.  I hate going to the dentist and I get really nervous.  I then complain to anyone that will listen about how I have to go and don't want to.

PS - This shall be my confession for next Thursday since I have to go to the dentist on Friday.

  • Shots and blood work. Basically needles.  I've always had my dad go with me.  And in the spring, when I had to get bloodwork done, my dad came with me.  Yes, I'm a daddy's girl, but H couldn't he was working... he needs to take over haha.

  • I'm a baby about most things, ha!  Too may things come to mind so we'll just leave it at 'most things' lol

  • ANYTHING at the doctor's office!  But I don't mind the dentist...I'm so weird, haha.

  • I'm with mana about the needles...sometimes it's so bad that I faint! When I had to have surgery earlier this year, getting the IV was the worst part.

  • I'm lucky not to have the needles thing, I am a very regular blood donor. Though, that is mostly because the red cross hounds me by calling every day when I'm due to donate again, and it gets annoying to keep avoiding them, so I just answer and make an appointment.

I am a big baby about confrontation. I will avoid it at any and all costs. Particularly if I have to do it over the phone. Oh, and I hate hate hate talking on the phone!

  • @willyh19 - my fear is from giving blood!  I had a bad experience in HS where they didn't find a vein and stuck me anyway, then they just left me for lunch.   I had someone check on me, and my arm was swelling and nothing was coming out.  I was bruised from mid bicep to mid forarm, like deep purple bruise.  I worked as a server for a retirement community, and the elderly were reporting to my boss I was abused and needed help.  I was scared, but then a few IV mishaps solidified my hatred to needles.  My record is being stuck 7 times to find a vein.

  • Needles where anything more than a small vaccine is involved. My body doesn't respond well to a lot of fluids going in or out, so I usually pass out or get close to when I donated or get big vaccines like before going to Thailand. I don't really whine about it to people, but it's not fun for me.

  • I have also been a baby about going to a bridal shower.  I really don't want to go and I think that DH is going to make me go.  Its for FSIL so I think that I am going to have to go.

Wow, ok your fear is totally justified! I've usually had pretty good luck when donating, but I ALWAYS go the the Red Cross facility and not a blood drive.  Your being stuck 7 times is giving me the squickies! %-(

  • Most things.  Waking up in the morning is the biggest.  If I wake up on my own, I'm fine.  As soon as that alarm clock goes off, ugh!

I don't like needles, but I suck it up.  I am also a regular blood donor.

Cathy, I usually am a baby about going to any kind of shower.  They are always so boring!  I didn't even want to go to my bridal shower and that one was fun (I am biased though.)
  • I CANNOT do needles!

The last time I had to have blood work done, I threw up and passed out. I can't even get a flu shot without feeling like I'm going to pass out! The worst part about getting my wisdom teeth out was the IV...it took them forever to find a vein and they poked me a bunch of times. The only thing that kept me from passing out was the fact that I was going to be out cold in a matter of minutes from the anesthesia.

  • I don't enjoy needles AT ALL, but I'm not a baby about them. I was nervous about my first IV, but mostly because I hadn't had one before. I am a baby when it comes to bugs and insects, usually. A couple of weeks ago there was a grasshopper on H's visor in my car, and he said "umm, what's that?!" and I thought it was a cockroach (it was night, so all I saw was the shadow) and next thing we knew, it was gone and I was screaming and had tears streaming down my face and was waving my arms around like mad. I look psychotic. I'm also a baby when it comes to pain!

  • Nic, sometimes I swear it's like we're the same person. I still have my wisdom teeth because of an IV mishap when I went to have them out, and I've totally been procrastinating on making another attempt.

    Oh no!

They had to turn the volume off on the heart rate monitor because I was so nervous and thing was beeping like crazy, which made me more nervous! The only thing that got me through it was the fact that I was going to be in loopy land in about 2 minutes!

  • I'm fine with needles, IV's, shots, blood draws, etc.

I hate hate hate spiders.  They make my skin crawl.  I also have terrible dental anxiety.  I've been to a few bad dentists in my life and they ruined me.
